Best and worst

Of the stories contained in "Haunted," which did you like the best, and which the least, and why? Maybe also mention which you found particularly funny, insightful, gross and preposterous.

I liked the Baglady story best. Had an interesting prince/pauper premise. It was insightful, I thought, and fun to read.

I think the story about the anatomically correct dolls should be removed from every library shelf in the world and destoyed.

Just kidding. I think it should be destroyed right on the shelf so no one has to actually touch it.

I have to admit I liked Sait Gut-Free's story. It really grabbed me and set the tone for the rest of the books. I was laughing out loud at the beginning, and about to puke by the end. It's rare for a story to effect me that way, and I loved it.

The anatomically correct dolls story will haunt me since we have some adult ones in our nursing labs. And while I don't know whether "Breather Betty" is a real brand, our CPR doll does have red hair. Something I didn't need to be thinking about as I do my practicums.

But the story I got the least out of my Mr. Whittier's. It was an important for the ending, but on its own as a short story I thought it was weak.

I guess you could also say it sucked me in.

I liked Lady Baglady's story, too, but I think my favorite was the Matchmaker.

Yes, terrible things happen, but sometimes those terrible things -- they save you.

The anatomical dolls story is among the most disturbing things I've ever read. Maybe my least favorite, though, was the Nightmare Box. The hocus-pocus aspects pissed me off.

Yikes! The masturbation story was the hardest to stomach, so to speak. It was an interesting and shocking way to start off the book, though.

I love the Countess Foresight, and I have been waiting, ever since reading her intro, for an opportunity to tell somebody in real life to dial 1-800-FUCK-OFF. A classic.

I expected to not like the Miss America character, but her love story with the fellow TV schlepper kind of charmed me. Especially the part when she dumped coffee on him to take his spot. And then they fell in love? Perfect.

Strongly disliked Whittier and the journalist, can't remember his name right now. I'm going to make a new post on those two.
