I like this book club. I like reading books and discussing them with people. I'll be kind of sad if this club peters out right now, but if that is what is happening, maybe we should just be honest about it, huh?
I owe everybody here an apology, particularly G, who I hope I haven't insulted by not commenting on his choice, and to KC, because I specifically committed to finishing the book earlier than I managed, and I hate it when other people make promises and don't follow through. Either do it or don't do it. Talking not required.
I do have limited Internet access, and limited time lately to post (haven't done much blogging, either). But everybody else here is busy, too, and you have managed to finish up on time. Didn't mean to make you wait for me, and though I made some comments about "Haunted" on old posts, you don't have to back up and re-engage in a discussion I'm so late to join.
I think next month will be easier when we work with parameters on when to be finished. I'd like to continue the club, but that's just me. Jane Austen will be delightful, too!
I agree with cl; I think "Haunted was just a bit tougher to go through because of its format, and I had problems just because of commuting to Tulsa and getting ready for school to start. But my schedule is more manageable now and I've adjusted to days, so I'm willing to recommit to the club. Especially since, like cl said, we've redefined the parameters.
I want to keep it going, and I'm really looking forward to "Sense and Sensibility."
I must apologize as the member who has done the least commenting on our last selection. I liked the book, and I have no good reason not to have commented.
That having been said, let's get going on the next one. It was suggested that we begin commenting on a new selection on the 10th or 15th of a month. Might I suggest September 15th as the opening day for discussion of kc's pick? That's pretty soon, but I think we should all be ready to go or be left behind by then. (I'm hoping to be in the former category.)
