The title

Any theories on why the story is called "Yurt"?

A couple of things it could signify: The Yurt was a part of the exotic outside that intrigued her. And it was a part of one of the conversations where she was embarrassed not to know things and felt like an outsider.

Yeah, I think the yurt kind of takes on the symbolic significance of adventure and action because of the strangeness of it and the tremendous change of leaving school life. Even the weirdness and dreariness of living in a yurt seems enviable to being trapped going nowhere.
