Yeah, I found it absorbing. It was sort of a page-turner. And during some of the aside moments, like Adso's dream or Ubertino's lesson on Dolcino, I was eager to return to the mystery story. What I like about mysteries is finding out how all the seemingly random occurrences somehow fit together to create a cohesive explanation.
The only thing I found unsatisfying was the ending, when William is upset because he solved the mystery by accident and the perpetrator essentially wins by destroying the whole abbey. Not your typical ending for a murder mystery.
