The bear

The title of the final story comes from an old folk song. It goes, “The bear came over the mountain to see what he could see. And all that he could see was the other side of the mountain.”

How do you think this relates to the story?

Very good question. My first thought is that the mountain is dementia, and that the other side of dementia is still just life.

But I don't think that's a satisfactory interpretation.
