I think so. Each of them glimpsed a bit of freedom from their stifling marriages. And for each it was a just a delicious, fleeting moment.
Yes, great question. I thought both kisses stemmed from compassion -- not pity, but something more rich and appreciative of Jinny/Nina and their situations. And both stemmed from at least fleeting attraction, too.
